1. شغفت بداية لي اشتهيها

    وما فيها عن الوصل امتناعُ

    I was enamored of a wet nurse of mine, whom I desire;

    And she has no reluctance to union.

  2. بباردة المجس وما اقشعرت

    معصبة وليس بها صداع

    With one cold to the touch, though she has not shivered,

    Her head wrapped, though she has no headache.

  3. تمنع أو تحل ذؤابتاها

    ويحسر عن مفارقها القناع

    Her two tresses are held fast or loosened,

    And the veil is drawn back from the partings of her hair.
