قد قلت حين افاض أحمد سيبه
ياO شقوةwretchedness المتشبهينthose who emulate بأحمدto Ahmad
يا شقوة المتشبهين بأحمد
I said, when Ahmad poured forth his bounty:
When Ahmad poured forth his radiance, I said:
Alas for those who emulate Ahmad!
O, the joy of those who resemble Ahmad!
يشرونthey buy مثلthe like of جيادهhis steeds وعبيدهand his slaves
يشرون مثل جياده وعبيده
افيقدرونthen can they? علىto ابتياعpurchasing السؤددnobility
افيقدرون على ابتياع السؤدد
They buy steeds and slaves like his;
They ride forth like his steeds and slaves.
but can they purchase nobility?
Can they afford to buy honor?
