وقلب سوى قلب الكتيبة باسل

وحد سوى حد الحسام صقيل

وحد سوى حد الحسام صقيل

And a heart other than the battalion’s center is valiant,

And a heart equal to the heart of the brave battalion

And an edge other than the sword’s edge is polished.

And a blade equal to the blade of the polished sword

وما حسن صبر ما ترين ولا رضى

بنأي ولكن المحب حمول

بنأي ولكن المحب حمول

And what you see is neither fine patience nor contentment

And the patience you see is not good, nor is consent

With separation—but the lover is long-suffering.

With remoteness, but the lover is obsessed
