A month's separation from you, to glory's chagrin,
Your estrangement, despite glory, for a month
is harder on me than the month of fasting.
Is harder on me than the fasting month

And how can I visit you when showers weep
upon my house with pouring streams of rain?

فصارت وادياً صعب المرام
Once it was a home with a cheerful face;
It once was an open, easy residence
then it became a valley hard to reach,
Now it is a difficult, wretched valley

May God spare us your harm, O cloud!
God has protected us from harm of clouds
