أَجِدّواrenew فَوَيهاًso, come on! لَكُمfor you all جَروَلُJarwal
Renew the sandals for your feet.
Polish your shoes for your feet
Renew them—come on! You have Jarwal.
And prepare a saddle for your steed
وَأَبلِغand tell سَلامانَSalaman إِنif جِئتَهاyou come to her
فَلاso let not يَكُbe شِبهاًa likeness لَهاof her المِغزَلُthe spindle
And tell Salaman, if you come to her:
Send my regards to Sulaiman, if you meet him
let the spindle be no likeness of her.
For the spinning wheel bears no resemblance to her
يُكَسّيit clothes الأَنامَmankind وَيُعريand it bares أَستَهُits backside
وَيَنسَلُّand slips out مِنfrom خَلفِهِbehind it الأَسفَلُthe lower end
It clothes mankind while baring its own backside,
It clothes the people yet strips their dignity
and its lower end slips out from behind it.
As the riffraff slither behind
فَإِنَّfor indeed بُجَيراًBujayr وَأَشياعَهُand his followers
كَماjust as تَبحَثُpaws the ground الشاةُthe ewe إِذas تَدآلُmoves along
For Bujayr and his followers
For Bujayr and his associates
are like a ewe pawing the ground as she moves along:
Are like a sheep bleating as it wanders
أَثارَتshe uncovered عَنِfrom الحَتفِdeath فَاِغتالَهاso it slew her unawares
فَمَرَّthen it passed عَلىacross حَلقِهاher throat المِغوَلُthe dagger
she uncovered death, and it slew her unawares;
They roused the wolf from its lair and it ambushed them
then the dagger passed across her throat.
Passing its throat over their necks
وَآخِرُand the last عَهدٍexperience لَهاof hers مونِقٌdelightful
غَديرٌa pool وَجِزعٌand a valley bend لَهاfor her مُبقِلُlush with herbage
And the last she had known was a delight:
And the last days for her were woeful
a pool and a valley bend, lush with herbage for her.
A pond and a mourning willow for her weeping
