وَرَدتْ إلى بيت الأريبِ البارع

بِكْرٌ تَهادَى في وشاءٍ ناصعِ

To the home of the discerning, accomplished man came

A maiden came to the adept poet's abode

a virgin maiden, gliding in radiant brocade.

Swaying gracefully in radiant finery

فوضعتها لبَّ الفؤادِ لما حَوَتْ

فوضعتها لبَّ الفؤادِ لما حَوَتْ

من حُسْن ألفاظ كزهر يانع

من حُسْن ألفاظ كزهر يانع

So I placed her in my heart's core for what she held

She captured the heart's attention with the beauty

of lovely words, like flowers in full bloom.

Of her eloquent words like a blooming flower

وإِليك وافدةَ الثناء عَروبةً

وإِليك وافدةَ الثناء عَروبةً

تُهدي سلاماً للمحاسن جامع

تُهدي سلاماً للمحاسن جامع

And to you comes a loving bearer of praise,

And to you a tribute of praise comes wandering

offering a greeting that embraces every grace.

Conveying greetings to the one of perfect virtues

يحمله داريُّ النسيم مُبَلِّغاً

يحمله داريُّ النسيم مُبَلِّغاً

عني إلى ذاك الجمال الرائع

عني إلى ذاك الجمال الرائع

The musk-scented breeze bears it, conveying it

Borne by the morning breeze transmitting

from me to that wondrous beauty—

From me to that captivating beauty

من صرت من شوقي إليه بحالةٍ

من صرت من شوقي إليه بحالةٍ

لم أستطعْ ردّاً لفيض مدامعي

لم أستطعْ ردّاً لفيض مدامعي

for whom my longing left me in such a state

For whom I pine with a longing

that I could not stem the flood of my tears.

I cannot restrain the outpouring of my tears

وافتك والنيروز يبسم ثغره

وافتك والنيروز يبسم ثغره

وتَلَفَّعَتْ من نوره بوشائع

وتَلَفَّعَتْ من نوره بوشائع

She reached you while Nowruz's mouth smiled,

The New Year dawned smiling

and wrapped herself in skeins of its light.

And the land was clothed in its splendor

وسعَتْ مهنئة بفصلٍ زاهرٍ

وسعَتْ مهنئة بفصلٍ زاهرٍ

بندي وعِيدٍ بالمسرَّة راجع

بندي وعِيدٍ بالمسرَّة راجع

And she hastened to congratulate you on a season blooming

Extending glad tidings of a blooming season

with dew, and a festival returning with joy.

That returns with joyful celebration

تبغي من الإِخوان أخلص دعوةٍ

تبغي من الإِخوان أخلص دعوةٍ

في ظهر غيب عن فؤاد ضارع

في ظهر غيب عن فؤاد ضارع

She seeks from friends the sincerest prayer,

Seeking from true brethren the sincerest wish

offered in one's absence, from a supplicating heart:

In seclusion from a yearning heart

فاجمع بخير يا مهيمنُ شمْلَنا

فاجمع بخير يا مهيمنُ شمْلَنا

بالمصطفى المختار أكرم شافع

بالمصطفى المختار أكرم شافع

So reunite us in goodness, O Guardian,

So gather in prosperity, O Guardian of our bond

through the Chosen One, the Elect, the noblest intercessor.
