ولاحَ سفورُ الصبحِ تحتَ لثامِه
The flash of lightning gleamed when he smiled.
The lightning flashed with his smile,
And dawn's unveiled radiance shone beneath his veil.
And dawn gleamed under his veil,

تركّبَ فيه البدْرَ عندَ تَمامِه
A gazelle fawn whose stature scoffs at the supple, dusky spear.
His neck scorns the soft brown,
In him the full moon took shape at its fullness.
The full moon sits on it in its wholeness.
