قُلْ وحُثَّ المُدامَ في إِبّانِه

قُلْ وحُثَّ المُدامَ في إِبّانِه

واجْرِ مَعْ من تُحبُّ في ميدانِه

Speak, and hasten the wine in its season;

Say this and urge the wine during its prime

and run with the one you love in his arena.

And walk with whom you love in its domain

وابتكرْ للصّبوحِ وامدد إلى ال

وابتكرْ للصّبوحِ وامدد إلى ال

لَهو يداً والشبابُ في رْيعانِه

لَهو يداً والشبابُ في رْيعانِه

And rise early for the morning draught, and extend toward

And innovate for the dawn and stretch your hand

pleasure a hand, while youth is in its prime.

To pleasure while youth is in its bloom

وارشفِ الراحَ صِرْفَةً واستلمها

من رشاً يستبيك صبغ بنانِه

من رشاً يستبيك صبغ بنانِه

And sip the wine unmixed, and receive it

And sip the wine in sips and take it

from a gazelle whose fingertips’ dye takes you captive,

From a radiant cheek whose dye stains its splendor

ذي قوامٍ رخْص المعاطِف سه

ذي قوامٍ رخْص المعاطِف سه

ل الملتوى عند هصرهِ فينانِه

ل الملتوى عند هصرهِ فينانِه

with a figure supple at the curves, easy

Of supple waist, light garments, easy flowing

to bend when his leafy bough is bent.

Over limbs so smooth to twist and bend

وشيات تلقَيَتْ بعِذارٍ

وشيات تلقَيَتْ بعِذارٍ

فوقَ خدٍّ يفترُّ عن خيلانِه

فوقَ خدٍّ يفترُّ عن خيلانِه

And markings that met with cheek-down,

And lips that mock with coquetry

above a cheek that smiles, revealing its beauty spots,

Above a cheek that reveals its dimples

طبعَتْ في مراة ديباجَتيْه

طبعَتْ في مراة ديباجَتيْه

فِتَناً للخيالِ من أجفانِه

فِتَناً للخيالِ من أجفانِه

imprinted in the mirror of his twin brocade cheeks

Stamped on the mirror of his brocade
