من المائسات اللُدن للنور كوكبا
So no garden, revealing in every calyx
No garden has ever blossomed from every bud,
Of supple, swaying boughs a star of blossom—
Like the ever-radiant stars lighting up the darkness.

ويُمسي وقد عاد المُسحّ المُطَنِّبا
A caravan of clouds greets it at dawn, drenching it,
The throng of clouds weep over it when shaded,
And at evening the pouring cloud has returned, spread wide;
And it returns at dusk with sweet scent spread.

And the cloud's artery sprinkles, with a dusky hue,
The artery of the cloud rains crimson upon it,
Dew upon it—how sweet and pleasant!
With a hero whose sweetness could not compete.

So it sips it, and sipping better quenches thirst,
It sips it up and the sip echoes loudly,
And there the daisies' mouth grows cool and pearly—
As the mouths of vines open widely at dawn.

Nor fragrance from Darin, arriving one evening,
No messenger came from two abodes one evening,
Perfuming the gardens' breaths with the east wind,
Staining the breaths of gardens along with the zephyr.

No perfumed musk was stored and sealed,
In its pods with gray-white ambergris from al-Shihr,
Whose essence of ambergris grayed.

Is lovelier than it, or has a sweeter scent,
More delightful than it or a scent more fragrant,
When I go to offer it to you, seeking your affection.
I would present to you if to please you I wished.

Fidelity in affection toward you never departs,
To you, keeper of affection who does not neglect,
Firm in the bonds of sincerity, never found fickle.
Or loosen the ties of loyalty that bind me.
