O master whose heart is ennobled by affection,
O noble lord whose kind heart shines,
so his likeness shines upon the tablet of the heart.
Its image illuminates the tablet of my heart,

Peace upon that noble presence, for he has so many
Peace be upon that eminent one, for he has
fragrant qualities, their scent like ambergris.
Many pieces of fine ambergris perfume.

بودٍ صَفا سَلْسَانهُ ونميرُه
And I offer him my greetings, sincerely devoted,
And I send my sincere regards to him
with affection whose gentle flow and sweet waters are pure.
With pure affection, his tongue and fire glow.

I wrote, with longing for him and a yearning
I wrote when longing for him gripped me
whose fire and blaze flare fiercely.
His logs blazed, kindled by his passion’s spark.

So I found no solace for myself but a greeting;
I found no recourse but to send greetings
I sent it, its fragrance growing stronger in his presence.
To revive for him memories held dear.
