ما كلُّ وقتٍ للزيارة صالحٌ

لا سيمَّا إِن كانَ وقت جلالِ

لا سيمَّا إِن كانَ وقت جلالِ

Not every time is suitable for a visit,

Not every time is right for a visit,

especially if it is a time of solemnity,

Especially if it's a time of formality,

أو غِبَّ حمّامٍ فإِنْ تكُ حاذِقاً

أو غِبَّ حمّامٍ فإِنْ تكُ حاذِقاً

جُنِبتَها بتعاقبِ الأجيالِ

جُنِبتَها بتعاقبِ الأجيالِ

or just after a bath; if you are discerning,

Or the absence of a loved one. So if you're prudent

you will be spared it through the succession of generations.

Avoid it, as generations go by.

أو لا فلا تك عاتباً من زرتَه

أو لا فلا تك عاتباً من زرتَه

في غيرِ وقتٍ صالحٍ بملالِ

في غيرِ وقتٍ صالحٍ بملالِ

Otherwise, do not reproach the person you visited

Or don't blame who you visit

at an unsuitable time for his weariness.

At an unsuitable, tiresome time.
