أرىI see زَهْرَblossoms القرنفلِthe carnation قدindeed جُلِيَتْhave been unveiled
أرى زَهْرَ القرنفلِ قد جُلِيَتْ
قدودٌslender forms ترجحنَّsway بهwith it قيامُstanding upright
قدودٌ ترجحنَّ به قيامُ
I see the carnation's bloom; unveiled are
I see the carnation's blossom bared
slender forms that sway with it, standing upright.
Shooting up like pillars hinged with stems
أخالُI imagine لوif أنهاthat they أعناقnecks of طيرٍbirds
أخالُ لو أنها أعناق طيرٍ

نهضنَ به لقلتُ هي النَعامُ
I fancy, were they the necks of birds
I'd think those necks were of a bird's
rising with it, I would say: they are ostriches.
Rising aloft like ostrich plumes
توقدَblazed زهرُهits blossoms جمراًas embers لديناbefore us

وتلك لها من الجمر التقامُ
Its bloom blazed as embers before us,
Its blossom kindles embers in our hearts
and those birds swallow embers.
Those embers for it equal flames
