للهِ من السَّفح ظِلالُ الوقفِ

للهِ من السَّفح ظِلالُ الوقفِ

واتبع أثراً لمادحٍ فيها واقْفِ

واتبع أثراً لمادحٍ فيها واقْفِ

How wondrous the endowment's shades upon the hillside!

The shadows of the valley belong to Allah

And follow a praiser's trail there, and tread in his steps.

And I followed in the footsteps of one who stopped there and praised

أوقفتُ على جدولها طَرفيَ مُذْ

أوقفتُ على جدولها طَرفيَ مُذْ

أطلقتُ به عِنان ذاكَ الوقفِ

أطلقتُ به عِنان ذاكَ الوقفِ

I fixed my gaze upon its stream, ever since

Since I stopped at its stream, I have let my eyes

I loosed by it the reins of that halt.

Roam freely upon that halting place
