How long will you appear to us and hide yourself?

The time has come for your anger to end.

Rise, my lord, to the cups—let us ply them.

Rapture has indeed stirred me toward your cup.

    Rise—come now!—let us satisfy a youthful longing.

Let us pluck the fruits of desire and seize them as spoil.

And the birds warble above the boughs.

And the lute resounds among the singing girls.

And fragrance bursts forth among the gardens.

And the wineskin trails among the wine jars.

O pampered one, who keeps glancing at me,

And the heart is glad and expectant.

And may my father be your ransom! Does this promise of yours

Have any end drawing near with union?

Take my soul as a reward for good tidings; perhaps

A means may arise from it for my promised meeting.
