The gardens of Jilliq below the River Yazid

Have tunics finer than the striped cloaks of Tazid.

Woven by the hands of clouds, then embroidered

With falling drops of cool dew in the morning.

The breeze toyed with their sheen, and they breathed

Into the face of their frequented river's rushing flow.

Then the furrows of its face drew tight in fortitude—

The fortitude of one struck by the arrow of slender beauties' gaze.
