فَنَنِ الأراك عشِيةً وصباحا
The longing of a dusky songbird, singing out and warbling
The longing of a gray dove that sings aloud upon
upon an arak bough evening and morning,
A branch of the arak tree, evening and morning,

Is never greater than the blaze of my yearning
and my heart’s anguish; but I hid mine, while he revealed his.
And my inward anguish—but I concealed mine, while it voiced its own.
