وقد تبدَّتْ من الصبح التبَاشِيرُ
And jasmine bestowed on us the delight of its aspect,
And jasmine granted us the delight of its appearance,
and already dawn’s glad tidings had appeared.
And dawn’s first signs had already appeared.
كأنّهas though it مذwhen تبدّاappeared فيin مطالعِهits rising places
كأنّه مذ تبدّا في مطالعِه
فوقَabove العروشthe trellises تناغيهcoo to it الأزاهيرُthe blossoms
فوقَ العروش تناغيه الأزاهيرُ
As though, from the moment it appeared at its points of rising
As though, when it appeared in its rising places,
above the trellises, the blossoms whispered to it:
Above the trellises, with blossoms cooing to it,
لآليءpearls بسطتْwere spread out منهاof them لناbefore us غُرَرٌgleaming faces
لآليء بسطتْ منها لنا غُرَرٌ

Bright brow-blazes spread out pearls from it for us;
It were pearls whose gleaming faces were spread before us,
through them coursed fine lines of rubies.
Across which ran fine lines of rubies.
