And the breeze divulged its secrets.

No brocade, then, can rival its draper's,

    Nor any perfume its perfumer's.

Nourished by the night-clouds with his rains.

And from his handwriting come its blossoms, fair to behold,

Quivering along the banks of its rivers.

A nobleman who, upon the heights of noble deeds,

Has a station raised high by his great worth.

    بها طائر الصيت معطارهِ

    Egypt revealed to him a watering place;

There its perfumer's fame flies far.

And you shall see his reach in the wilderness

    Surpass al-Simak in grandeur.

And your suppliant, from among them, with praise,

Sings to my lord with his poems.

I chose it from exquisite language,

With verse's seasoned forms and its virgin ones.

It takes pride in the freshness of this season,

And glories in adorning its tidings.

So remain in it, my lord, filled with joy

In it, and enjoy its radiance.
