مهينمة جاءت بأوصاف ماجد

إِذا حل مصراً حَلّ في أرضها الخصب

A whispering voice came describing a noble man:

With descriptions of Majid did she come

whenever he settles in a city, fertility settles in its land.

When he dwells in Egypt, fertility graces its land

فقمت وفي أذنيِّ فضل حديثها

فقمت وفي أذنيِّ فضل حديثها

وقد طربت مني السويداء واللب

وقد طربت مني السويداء واللب

So I rose, its words still lingering in my ears,

I arose with her words still resounding in my ears

and my heart's core and mind already rejoicing,

Made joyous by me are the black lands and the fertile

ابث إِلى علياه بعض خلاله

ابث إِلى علياه بعض خلاله

وهذا لساني بالثناء له رطب

وهذا لساني بالثناء له رطب

to recount to his eminence some of his virtues;

Relate to her highness some of his virtues

and this tongue of mine is moist with praise for him.
