عن ذي هوىً حظه الممزوج بالكَدَرِ
Alas for my ruin, after aversion grew intense at midmorning,
My negligence increased after the departure of the envoys at dawn
Toward a lover whose lot is mingled with sorrow.
Of the one I love, whose fortune is mixed with bitterness

حتى تقطعت الأسباب من قَمَري
A gazelle-fawn I fell in love with hopes to sever ties with me,
I hoped he would stop shunning me and end his avoidance
Until the bonds with my moon were broken.
Until my hopes were completely cut off from my moon

Ah, for our days at the valley bend, when I was
Alas, for those days I spent in grief
Intoxicated with wine—and now with thoughts.
Delighted by intoxication, and now by reflection
