How splendid a garden is Jilliq’s hill!
For God a hill of smooth sand in a garden
There the two Ghoutas have their noblest abode.
For the two birds therein the most noble place

مُلَحٌ عليهنَّ الفؤادُ يُرفرفُ
Wherever a glance falls among its spreading trees,
In every spot a moment of its circling
There are delights over which the heart flutters.
The heart flutters over them excitedly

غُصُنٌ تَميسُ عليه طيرٌ تهتفُ
A river ripples among hills, where in splendor
A river meandering in the hill it adorns
Boughs sway above it, and birds sing out.
A branch a bird alights on calling out

So this seems a coat of mail, this brocade, and this
As if this a coat of mail and this a breastplate and this
A graceful figure, and this a singer there, delighting the ears.
A neck and this a forehead veil fluttering
