إِلاّ الجناب الأوحَدُ المتفضّلُ
Concealment has vanished; your striving has no field
The secrecy has departed, so why delay your generosity?
Save the peerless, generous lord's court.
It is only the unique, gracious Lord who is distinguished.

He is that noble-hearted man, worthy of all with which
He is the valiant, free to bestow all praise;
Praise has unfolded and aloeswood has spread its fragrance.
Eulogy blossoms through him, and the pulpit shines.

عوني وعدّتيَ الفريدُ الأكملُ
Head of the naqibate, among the noble sons of glory,
The leader of the eminent people of the family of Al-'Alā'
My help and my mainstay, the peerless, most perfect one.
Is my support and my perfect, unmatched equipment.

My lord, O Quss of eloquence, and you whom
O my Master, epitome of eloquence, without whom
Zayd of rhetoric and Daghfal cannot match.
Zayd's rhetoric and Daghfal's are insignificant.

Indeed, loyalty in one like your servant bears noble fruit,
Your servant's loyalty is obligatory,
And good fortune is that acceptance from you should favor him.
And good fortune is that you accept him.

My lord, I am under your protection; judge as you will.
O my Master, I have resorted to your rein;
Does a suppliant seek anything but this?
Who else frequents one who implores?

If the court's income extends to me, then my expenses
If the Lord has blinded me, my inner self sees clearly,
Are secured, and good fortune advances toward me.
And good fortune is inclined toward me.

And why should I be deprived, when eloquence continues
Why would I be deprived when eloquence
To let its boughs droop over me forever?
Has never ceased scattering its branches over me?

Have mercy on me, for the flood has reached the high ground
Have mercy on me, for the torrent has reached peril;
In my plight, and refuge has brought me to you.
I am overwhelmed and my course leads to you.

أبداً ولا أظمى وبابك منهَلُ
I could not be wretched while your dwelling is fertile,
I would not suffer while your land is fertile,
Nor ever thirst while your door is a watering place.
Nor would I thirst while your door is a fountain.

And with you is spreading shade for noble deeds,
In your shade is shelter for noble deeds, a place
Its arak tree dewy, and a garden lush with moisture.
Where your couches are damp and your meadow verdant.

You gave me a necklace first; next, clothe me in plumage,
You adorned me first with gifts and later with honor;
For necklaces look beautiful with garments.
Jewels are beautified by their settings.

I am that songbird; my surroundings have grown verdant,
I am the warbler made home in your side;
And so my tongue has become adorned with praise.
Because of my praise, I gained acceptance from you.
