صُحُفَ الوَفا مني إليك ومنكَ لي

صُحُفَ الوَفا مني إليك ومنكَ لي

تترى ولكنْ ما لهنَّ مَنال

Letters of fidelity, from me to you and from you to me,

The pages of loyalty from me to you and from you to me

Come in succession, yet bring no fulfillment.

Are seen, but they have no fulfillment

فاَحسن بيَ الظن الذي أحسنتهُ

فاَحسن بيَ الظن الذي أحسنتهُ

بكَ من تقلّصَ بيننا الترسالُ

بكَ من تقلّصَ بيننا الترسالُ

So hold the same good opinion of me that I have held

So think well of me as I thought well of you

Of you, since correspondence between us has dwindled.

When correspondence between us grew sparse
