A soul, hoping to join those departing at dawn,

Flows as tears upon my cheek, racing ahead.

She traveled by night and would have been safe from informers' reports of her,

But for the jewelry and fragrant ambergris.

And night is vanquished by a moon from her face

At times, while darkness from her hair comes to its aid.

Night was her path, with its delight,

Until dawn and twilight came face-to-face.
