Eagerly striding forward,

enraptured, drawing the clouds near.

Reaching up to grasp the clouds.

في روحه أمل يضي

في روحه أمل يضي

ء وفي شبيبته غلاب

ء وفي شبيبته غلاب

In their spirit is a hope that shines,

In his spirit there is hope,

and in their youth, a will to prevail.

In his youth there is triumph.

قد فارق الجهل العقيـ

قد فارق الجهل العقيـ

ـم وهش للعلم اللباب

ـم وهش للعلم اللباب

They have left barren ignorance behind,

He has left behind ignorance,

and eagerly welcomed pure knowledge.

And inclined toward knowledge.

ورنا إلى مستقبل

ورنا إلى مستقبل

يرقى له متن الصعاب

يرقى له متن الصعاب

And they gaze toward a future

He looks to a future,

for which they scale the backs of hardships.

That rises above hardship.

قد راح يستهدي العلا

قد راح يستهدي العلا

ويصارع الموج العباب

ويصارع الموج العباب

They have set out seeking guidance from the heights,

He seeks out knowledge,

and wrestling with the surging waves,

And wrestles with raging waves.

في الأرض أو في البحر أو

في الجو فوق ذرى الضباب

في الجو فوق ذرى الضباب

on land, or at sea, or

On land, sea, or in the sky,

in the air, above the peaks of mist.

Above the mist's veil.

ذاكم لعمري عدة الـ

ـوطن الكريم المستطاب

ـوطن الكريم المستطاب

They, by my life, are the mainstay of the

That, by my life, is the making,

noble, cherished homeland.

Of a generous, noble nation.

ما المجد يطلب بالمنى

كلا ولا السمر القضاب

كلا ولا السمر القضاب

Glory is not sought through wishes,

Glory is not sought through wishes,

no indeed, nor through keen, tawny spears.

Nor with swords and spears.

المجد يبنى بالعلو

م تهز عالمنا العجاب

Glory is built through the sciences

Glory is built through knowledge,

that shake our wondrous world.

Filling our world with wonders.

والعلم راية كل شعـ

And knowledge is the banner of every people

Knowledge is the banner,

rising, lofty in aspiration.

Of every aspiring people.

وعليه فلنبن الحيا

ـة و لا نساوم في الثواب

Upon it, then, let us build life,

So let us build our lives,

and let us not bargain over the reward.

And not compromise on reward.

مثل انطلاقات الشهاب

مثل انطلاقات الشهاب

And let us set forth in our resolve

Let us forge ahead with resolve,

like the darting flights of a shooting star,

Like the blazing stars.

so that we may be seen above al-Suha,

That we may see atop the skies,

so that we may be honored at the final return.

And be glorified in the end.

هذي نصيحة مخلص

This is the counsel of a sincere well-wisher

This is the advice of a devoted one,

who loves glory and striving.

Who loves learning and scholars.
