1. عادت الروحُ يا عمان فعودي

    مثلما كنتِ بسمةً للوجودِ

    The spirit has returned, O Oman, so return

    as you once were, a smile for existence.

  2. وانثري السعد والهنا قُبُلاتٍ

    وانشري الطيب في ابتسام الورود

    And scatter happiness and bliss as kisses,

    and spread fragrance in the roses' smiles.

  3. فلقد عاد سيد الدار نوراً

    مشرقاً بالهنا ونجم السعود

    For the master of the house has returned as light,

    radiant with bliss, and a star of good fortune.

  4. عاد قابوس عودة الغيث يُحيي

    ذابل الروح والجنى والعود

    Qaboos has returned as rain returns, reviving

    the withered spirit, fruit, and bough.

  5. عاد كالشمس بعد ليلٍ طويلٍ

    عشتِهِ في ترقُبٍ وكُمود

    He has returned like the sun after a long night

    you lived through in watchful waiting and gloom.

  6. عاد كالبحر بعد جَزرٍ بعيدٍ

    يا لَمَدٍّ له بعوْدٍ سعيد

    He has returned like the sea after a far-receding ebb—

    oh, what a flood tide comes with his happy return!

  7. عودة اليوم مولدٌ من جديدٍ

    لحياة العُلا بعمرٍ مديد

    Today's return is a birth anew

    for a life of glory, long in years.

  8. فاهنأي يا عمان فالخوف ولّى

    بعد إشراق فجرك المشهود

    So rejoice, O Oman, for fear has fled

    after your momentous dawn has broken.

  9. وارفعي راية الولا وأعيدي

    في تهانيكِ بيعةَ التجديد

    And raise the banner of loyalty, and reaffirm

    in your congratulations the pledge of renewed allegiance.

  10. فغداً مثلما الامس أرست

    حاضر اليوم ترتقي بالمَشيد

    So tomorrow, just as yesterday she firmly established

    today's present, she will rise upon what was built.

  11. وتسير الحياة خلف خطى قا

    بوس في حكمة وفي تسديد

    And life follows in the footsteps of

    Qaboos, with wisdom and sound guidance.

  12. فاسلكوا خلفه رسومَ خُطاهُ

    نحو مستقبلٍ عظيمٍ مجيد

    So follow behind him in the traces of his footsteps,

    toward a great and glorious future.

  13. واحفظوا نهجه الوسيط قويماً

    يا لنهجٍ موفّقٍ ورشيد

    And preserve his moderate course, keeping it straight—

    oh, what a successful and rightly guided course!—

  14. بين عزمٍ على المَضاء وحزمٍ

    وسخاءٍ في حِلمه المحمود

    between resolve to press onward and firmness,

    and generosity in his praiseworthy forbearance,

  15. تحت ظلٍ من الشريعة وافٍ

    يسع العصر في بنود الحدود

    beneath the ample shade of the Sharia,

    which embraces the age within the provisions of its bounds.

  16. فاسألوا الله حُلّةً من شفاءٍ

    وعوافٍ في ضافيات البُرود

    So ask God for a robe of healing,

    and well-being in ample cloaks.

  17. واختموا بالصلاة مِسك ختامٍ

    وسلامٍ على النبيّ العميد

    And conclude with blessings, a musk-sweet ending,

    and peace upon the Prophet, the leader.
