اخْسَا ولا تطغى أيَا سِلَمِي
أَتَرُومُdo you seek ذُلَّthe humiliation of الدِّينِreligion وَالْقِيَمِand values؟!
أَتَرُومُ ذُلَّ الدِّينِ وَالْقِيَمِ؟!
Begone, and do not transgress, O Salm!
Begone, and do not transgress, O Silami.
Do you seek the humiliation of faith and values?
Do you seek the humiliation of religion and values?!
أَتُحَارِبُdo you fight الإِسْلامَIslam شِرْعَتَهُits law
أَتُحَارِبُ الإِسْلامَ شِرْعَتَهُ
بِكَتِيبَةِwith a battalion of الْعَلْمَانِthe secularists وَالْوَصَمِand disgrace؟!
بِكَتِيبَةِ الْعَلْمَانِ وَالْوَصَمِ؟!
Would you wage war on Islam and its sacred law
Do you wage war on Islam's law
with a battalion of secularists and base rabble?
With a battalion of secularists and disgrace?!
أَتَرُومُdo you seek طَمْسَthe effacement of هُوِيَّةٍan identity ظَهَرَتْthat appeared
أَتَرُومُ طَمْسَ هُوِيَّةٍ ظَهَرَتْ
كَالْبَدْرِlike the full moon وَسْطَamid اللَّيْلِthe night وَالظُّلَمِand darkness؟!
كَالْبَدْرِ وَسْطَ اللَّيْلِ وَالظُّلَمِ؟!
Do you seek to erase an identity that has emerged,
Do you seek to efface an identity that appeared
like the full moon amid night and darkness?
Like the full moon amid night and darkness?!
أَتَرُومُdo you seek مَنْعَto stop الْقَطْرِthe rain تُمْطِرُهُthey rain it down
أَتَرُومُ مَنْعَ الْقَطْرِ تُمْطِرُهُ
سُحُبٌclouds مِنَof الرَّحَمَاتِmercies وَالنِّعَمِand blessings؟!
سُحُبٌ مِنَ الرَّحَمَاتِ وَالنِّعَمِ؟!
Do you seek to hold back the rain poured down
Do you seek to stop the rain poured down
by clouds of mercies and blessings?
By clouds of mercy and blessings?!
أَتَرُومُdo you seek حَجْبَto veil الشَّمْسِthe sun مَشْرِقِهَاits rising؟!
أَتَرُومُ حَجْبَ الشَّمْسِ مَشْرِقِهَا؟!
سَتَبُوءُyou will return بالْخُسْرَانِwith loss وَالنِّقَمِand retribution
سَتَبُوءُ بالْخُسْرَانِ وَالنِّقَمِ
Do you seek to veil the sun at its rising?
Do you seek to veil the sun at its rising?!
You will return with loss and retribution.
You will incur loss and retribution.
أَتَرُومُdo you seek مَنْعَto deny الأَرْضِthe earth نَبْتَتَهَاits vegetation؟!
أَتَرُومُ مَنْعَ الأَرْضِ نَبْتَتَهَا؟!
بَرَكَاتُهَاits blessings تَهْوِيplummet إِلَىinto الْعَدَمِnothingness!
بَرَكَاتُهَا تَهْوِي إِلَى الْعَدَمِ!
Do you seek to deny the earth its growth?!
Do you seek to deny the earth its vegetation?!
Its blessings plunging into oblivion!
Its blessings plummet into nothingness!
أَتَرُومُdo you seek مَنْعَto deprive النَّاسِpeople مِنْof أَمَلٍhope
أَتَرُومُ مَنْعَ النَّاسِ مِنْ أَمَلٍ
يَعْلُوrises high كَلامُthe word of اللهِGod فِيamong الأُمَمِthe nations؟!
يَعْلُو كَلامُ اللهِ فِي الأُمَمِ؟!
Do you seek to bar people from a hope—
Do you seek to deny people the hope
that God’s word might rise among the nations?!
That God's word will rise high among the nations?!
أَتَرُومُdo you seek نَطْحَto butt الصَّخْرِthe rock مُوهِنَهُweakening it؟!
أَتَرُومُ نَطْحَ الصَّخْرِ مُوهِنَهُ؟!
سَيَذِلُّwill be humbled قَرْنُكَyour horn حَاصِدَO reaper of النَّدَمِregret
سَيَذِلُّ قَرْنُكَ حَاصِدَ النَّدَمِ
Do you seek to butt the rock and weaken it?!
Do you seek to butt the rock, hoping to weaken it?!
Your horn will go on reaping regret.
Your horn will be humbled, O reaper of regret.
أَتَرُومُdo you seek فِتْنَةَdiscord in أُمَّةٍa nation رَضِيَتْthat has been content
أَتَرُومُ فِتْنَةَ أُمَّةٍ رَضِيَتْ
بِاللهِwith God رَبًّاas Lord بَارِئَCreator of النَّسَمِliving souls؟!
بِاللهِ رَبًّا بَارِئَ النَّسَمِ؟!
Do you seek to lead a nation into strife—a nation content
Do you seek to stir discord in a nation content
with God as Lord, Creator of all souls?!
With God as Lord, Creator of living souls?!
أَتَبُثُّdo you spread فِتْنَةَthe discord of عَابِثٍa mischief-maker نَزِقٍreckless
أَتَبُثُّ فِتْنَةَ عَابِثٍ نَزِقٍ
تَمْحُوyou erase شَرِيعَةَthe law of رَبِّنَاour Lord الْحَكَمِthe Judge؟!
تَمْحُو شَرِيعَةَ رَبِّنَا الْحَكَمِ؟!
Are you spreading the sedition of a reckless trifler,
Do you spread a reckless mischief-maker's discord,
to erase the law of our Lord, the Judge?!
Erasing the law of our Lord, the Judge?!
أَتَرُومُdo you seek نُورَthe light of اللهِGod تُطْفِئُهُyou extinguish it؟!
أَتَرُومُ نُورَ اللهِ تُطْفِئُهُ؟!
اخْسَاbegone نَصِيرَchampion of الشَّرِّevil لاdo not تَشَمِbe haughty
اخْسَا نَصِيرَ الشَّرِّ لا تَشَمِ
Do you seek to extinguish the light of God?!
Do you seek to extinguish God's light?!
Begone, champion of evil—you shall not even catch its scent.
Begone, champion of evil; do not be haughty.
سَيَتِمُّwill be complete نُورُthe light of اللهِGod فَانْتَظِرَنْso be sure to await
سَيَتِمُّ نُورُ اللهِ فَانْتَظِرَنْ
غَضَبًاa wrath يَثُورُerupts يُبِيدُannihilates كَالْحِمَمِlike lava
غَضَبًا يَثُورُ يُبِيدُ كَالْحِمَمِ
God’s light will be made complete—so wait
God's light will be complete; so await
for wrath that erupts and destroys like lava.
A wrath that erupts, annihilating like lava.
